Café Assistant – Help create the best space to work and recharge at DIS Copenhagen

Do you want to listen to our faculty members talk about their courses and classes while treating them to homemade delicacies? Join our bustling environment for at least 20 hours a week spread over 3 shifts, on weekdays between 7.00 and 17.30.

It’s the same people who visit the café every day, so you really get to connect with them. You’ll join the setting where faculty members and staff meet each other with curiosity and exchange ideas,”  says café manager Laura Maruma.

DIStrict Café – where big ideas meet everyday treats

Our café caters to staff and faculty members from all over the world and serves as an employee hub. Lunch is served at another location, so our colleagues mainly visit us for breakfast and snacks.

Jazz, rock, hiphop, and most everything in between flow from the speakers, blending with the aroma of freshly baked cake. And right in the middle of it, you and your colleagues create a cozy atmosphere.

DIStrict Café opened in August 2023 and is the social hub of DIS. We aim to make every day full of coffee, sweet delights and to enlighten our many colleagues with new recipes and meaningful celebrations. The café is only for the employees of DIS, and its purpose is to be:

…a place to work

…a place to collaborate

…a place to connect

…a place to reset

… a place to challenge

DIStrict is a gathering space to inspire DIS employees to think differently about how they get work done, enabling them to learn new ways to carry out the DIS mission.

“We’re a far cry from your everyday commercial café. Instead of profit, what we care about is providing a playful setting where our colleagues can meet outside of classrooms and libraries,“ Laura continues.

You make coffee, prepare breakfast, bake – and most of all connect

The café is open from 8-16 and you will have both opening and closing shifts. Everything we serve is homemade, and we like to change up the menu every season. So, we look forward to you trying out new recipes and creating your colleagues’ new favorite excuse for self-indulgence.

During a typical shift, you will:

  • Bake fresh bread, unpack deliveries, and generally prepare the café for service before opening at 8 AM
  • Prepare coffee, drinks, and food orders efficiently without ever compromising the quality and the vibe of the café
  • Create delicious treats together with the rest of the team
  • Close the café, clean equipment and the workspace, and restock for the next day

Bring the energy that defines our atmosphere

You meet new people and cultures with curiosity and are eager to learn from them. At the same time, you can also adapt and pick up the pace when needed.

We furthermore imagine that you:

  • Have working experience from the food service industry or from another customer-facing role
  • Have the vibrancy to create a welcoming, culturally inclusive environment
  • Are curious and share our excitement about sustainable food practices, and are eager to learn and share knowledge with others
  • Speak English fluently – Danish is not required
