DIS Stockholm is currently hiring one external faculty to co-teach the elective course Public Health Emergencies and Health-Crisis Management to highly motivated undergraduate students from North American universities who are spending a semester studying in Stockholm. The teaching position will begin in August for the 2024 fall semester. The course meets at DIS Stockholm Mondays and Thursdays from 10:05-11:25 and there are academic field studies scheduled on two Wednesdays during the semester.
Course description
Public health emergencies can happen all over the world, but long-term effects vary with the vulnerability of the affected communities. Through case studies and scenario-based classroom discussions, students will become familiar with the disaster-development continuum of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation, and the core concepts of pandemics and epidemics. Furthermore, students will investigate the global rise of non-communicable diseases growing to epidemic proportions and the future health impacts of our changing climate.
